Nice to meet you
I'm Marlowe
I have spent ten years writing about attention and follow-through — first as letters to friends, then as a weekly post, now as four short books. Everything in them worked for me first, then for the readers who write back.
My theory of the good life fits in one sentence: want less, notice more, finish what you start. I write in the mornings, walk in the afternoons, and keep my phone boring on purpose.
The short version
How I got here
2016 — Letters to friends
Burned out at a desk job, I started writing a Monday letter about attention to eleven friends. Nine wrote back. The habit stuck.
2020 — The weekly post
The letter became a public post, most weeks, on mornings, deep work, and wanting less. Readers began asking for the long version.
2024 — Four short books
A decade of posts distilled into four handbooks you can read in an afternoon: focus, deep work, self-talk, and weekly planning.
